LESSON
10: COMPUTER AS A TUTOR
DIAGRAM:
Responsibilities of the Teacher:
REFLECTION:
As
we all know, computers are one of the wonders of human ingenuity. When we say
ingenuity, it is the skill and imagination to create new things. There are a
lot of things that a computer do to provide new information relevant to
learning, fasten individuals work and etc.
Computers can also act like a tutor
and a teacher’s partner in imparting knowledge to the students due to the fact
that technology integration is crucial in the part of a teacher because we are
now in the modern era. Even though computer can act like a tutor, it can’t
replace the teacher in the classroom.
Computer is not a substitute for
teacher in imparting ideas to the students; hence it is only a partner of a
teacher in teaching so that the teaching and learning process would become
interactive and meaningful. It can’t replace the teacher in all aspect of
learning because the teacher has a unique and special ability or strategies
used in teaching that computer can’t do or produce.
LESSON
11: THE COMPUTER AS THE TEACHER’S
TOOLS
DIAGRAM:
REFLECTION:
Lesson 11
talks about computer as a teacher’s tool. For me, as a future educator, it is
very important to incorporate computer in imparting knowledge to the learners
provided that computers can give a vast amounts of information in various forms.
It is also used for communication such as our emails/gmails and other social
medias. It is also used for constructing information in a most attractive way
such as PPT and etc.
There are many things that a computer
can do to foster learning into a more effective and meaningful way.
LESSON 12: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN SUPPORT OF
STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING
DIAGRAM:
REFLECTION:
This lesson
or chapter shows the difference between traditional classroom and
Student-centered classroom supported by IT. As we can see in the illustration
above, the SCL classroom is more on Student-centered instruction while T
classroom is more on teacher-centered instruction.
As we all know, computer (Information
Technology) plays a great role in the fulfillment of SCL classroom. Because of
the technology integration in the classroom, it would lead to student-centered
classroom wherein the students will become an active learners and the teacher
his/herself will only be a manager and a guide for learning.
LESSON 13: COOPERATIVE LEARNING WITH THE COMPUTER
DIAGRAM:
REFLECTION:
Cooperative learning is one of the
teaching strategies used by the teacher to insure productive learning among
students. A group must develop a spirit of teamwork and communication to
produce a good output.
For me, it is very necessary to
integrate computer with cooperative learning in teaching specifically in
activity. Through computer, it can promote learning and most of all, it can
provide a greater cooperation or collaboration among the members of the group
to extract ideas about the topic. Besides, with the partnership of cooperative
learning and computer, it can enhance social skills and computer literacy
skills among students.
LESSON 15:
UNDERSTANDING HYPERMEDIA
DIAGRAM:
REFLECTION:
The main tenet of lesson 15 is all
about Hypermedia.
Hypermedia as we all know is a
database format similar to hypertext in which text, sound, or video images
related to that on a display that can be accesses directly from the display.
It is very important for a teacher to
use hypermedia in his/her lesson due to the fact that hypermedia provides personalized
learning activities for the learners. With that, it will help the slow learners
because it gives activities that are suited to the learning objectives as well
as the needs and interest of the learners. Hypermedia in teaching shows and
presents a diverse or varied media that will fit for the fast and slow
learners.
With the help of hypermedia, it will
be easy for the teacher to present his or her topic to the whole class.
